My Forever Minecraft World

Good evening, dear reader.

Yesterday I decided to create my “Forever Minecraft World”.

Minecraft is a game that I will never stop playing. Of course, there will be a lot of long breaks, but I will never stop playing it. So, it is only natural that I have a lot of worlds that I finish the game in or give up, build different concepts, set fancy rules for myself to enhance the experience, etc. This is great, however there is one small issue.

These screenshots never disappoint. I’m going to build my first house near this river. I’ve even started already 1

I never keep those worlds; they either get deleted when I format my computer, or get corrupted in some ways. And being a data hoarder, I hate loosing them! They all contain memories from childhood and my imagination - they are in a sense, precious.

It would also be very cool to show my childhood worlds to my kids one day :D.

For all these reasons, I decided to create my “Forever World”. Rules are simple.

If I want to start over, I will just teleport to a random far location, and start over. Or just start a parallel world, and finish the game again. Basically, I’m planning to keep playing in the same world for ever.

My concerns

This decision made me question couple of things. Will Minecraft be accessible if Mojang deprecating it? Will the mods I installed2 work?

The answer is, probably. The way Minecraft is distributed is great, and allows us to back our installation up. And the mods, as long as they are maintained, I can just update the version now and then. So, it is all good!

Mods I installed

Here you are, a screenshot from Modrinth, which is an amazing open source app and marketplace for Minecraft mods and related resources. Truly amazing app.

Thank you for reading, and see you next time.

Bye :^)

  1. Apologies for the chunky (5.51 MB) image. It is a raw screenshot, and I’m too lazy to compress it to webp or smth. Please bear with me until I make an app to automate the job, hehe. And yes, I’ve abandoned it since August. ↩︎

  2. I have finally decided that whatever makes the game more fun for me, it is OK to use it. ↩︎
