A New Kind of New Year Eve

Hi there, happy new year!

1.5 hours ago we welcomed the new year in Koblenz, and it was great. There was a lot of fireworks at Deutsches Eck, me and my friend went there and watched them. My favorite kind was those that go up and explode into directed particles, they look a lot like shooting stars.

I actually dislike fireworks, because they are harmful for everything, from plants to animals. Plus there are a lot of trash on the streets afterwards. But to let people enjoy themselves¹ for couple of minutes in this cruel world, I won’t keep talking about the harms non-stop. This said, I would rather watch drone or laser shows.

A New Kind of New Year Eve

Anyway, I’m home now. And this is the first of its kind New Year Eve.

Ever since I was little kid, my mother made us a great meal, we always had gifts under the tree, and couple of guests would be around. It has always been a very social day, and first time this year, I’m very far away from home, celebrating the day almost alone. Best thing that happened was my friend coming to Koblenz, and it made it a lot better. But still, it is definitely different than celebrating it with whole family and relatives.

It is fine tho. I wish it would be better, but this is life; and sadly we are forced give up on stuff we love for the sake of other things - our future.

For the first time in my life, I am hungry at the 1st of January 😂.
